Former Juventus midfielder Ilyas Zeytullayev told RB Sport that Serie A is not suitable for Atalanta midfielder Alexei Miranchuk in terms of temperament, he could play in Portugal, Germany or England.
In the summer of 2020, the Russian player moved to Atalanta from Lokomotiv, and last season he spent on loan at Torino.
– I see Alexei in another championship. For example, in Germany – conditional “Bayer”. He is a very strong player, but at some points his character does not suit the local championship. Perhaps too soft. And Italian football is very difficult from this point of view. There is a different mentality here – you lose the game and you are under pressure all week.
My feeling is that he could play in Portugal, Germany or even England. Clubs are quieter. And in Torino or Atalanta, he also came across some kind of coaches with huge demands. I know Juric and Gasperini well. They know that he is a strong guy, but by nature they do not really suit each other.
Maybe he lacks combativeness. But I am sure that if he finds his team, his coach, he will open up and play at a high level,” Zeytullayev said.
In total last season, 27-year-old Miranchuk played 31 matches, scored four goals and made six assists. Portal Transfermarkt estimates the player at 12 million euros.
