Former goalkeeper of Lokomotiv Anton Amelchenko gave a forecast for the next season of the WORLD RPL, saying that the railway workers will be able to compete for getting into the top three.

At the end of the season, the Red-Greens took eighth place in the Russian Championship, the team went to the winter break in the play-off zone. The title was won by Zenit, CSKA became the second, Spartak – the third.

– The fact that Zenit will become the champion for the fifth time in a row was predictable. As part of the RPL, he is stable and yet more skilled than other teams. I thought that thanks to the organization of the game, CSKA would be able to compete, but somewhere there was not enough human resources. Akhmat was surprised, but, probably, this indicates that the overall level of the Russian championship has averaged out, and many teams can fight for fourth or fifth places. I am glad that Fakel did not fly out, (Voronezh) is a city with traditions, its fans deserve a team in the Premier League. It’s good that Rubin and Baltika have returned to the top division. Kazan and Kaliningrad are excellent cities with modern stadiums, which is important for football players.

Who will fight for the championship next season? I believe, all the same representatives. It is necessary to look at which clubs will be strengthened by whom and with whom they will part. If CSKA does not lose anyone and adds qualities to certain positions that need to be strengthened, then I see that it is he who can compete with Zenit in the fight for first place. It is difficult to assess Spartak – in my opinion, a lot of non-football things interfere with it. Lokomotiv may be fighting for the top three, given how it spent the second part of the last season, – quotes Amelchenko “Euro-futbol.ru”.

The new RPL season starts on July 21-23. In the first round, Lokomotiv will play with Rubin.
