“Modric has correctly extended the contract with Real Madrid, he is still in perfect order” – Mostovoy

Former Russian football player Alexander Mostovoi considers the extension of the contract of midfielder Luka Modric with Real Madrid to be the right decision of the Croatian football player.

The new agreement of the 37-year-old midfielder is calculated until June 30, 2024.

– I think that Modric did everything right. It looks like he’s still fine. He was given just sometimes to rest and that’s it. His skill is extraordinary. Modric has everything a great master should have. I think that in two years Luka will already go to the Saudis or to America. In the meantime, he has the strength, everything is right that he remained to play at the highest level.

Real Madrid have already begun restructuring. Many are leaving now. But Modric will get his time. He deserves to play. I think that he has an excellent dialogue with Ancelotti,” Mostovoy told Euro‑Football.Ru.

Modric has been with Real Madrid since the summer of 2012. He made 488 appearances for the team, scoring 37 goals and winning 23 trophies, including five Champions League victories.

In 2018, the Croatian won the Golden Ball and was recognized as the best player in the World Cup in Russia.
