“Karpin is right that only the first place remains in memory, but I would like to get a medal with Rostov” – Melekhin

Rostov central defender Viktor Melekhin admitted to Metaratings.ru that he would like to get his first medal in the RPL with the Don team.

– What happened to the team in the last round against CSKA, when you lost 1:4 and missed the medals?

– I did not think about that. Perhaps there was pressure or something else, although before the game Karpin tried to protect us from this. But this is football, it happens.

– Karpin said that everyone remembers only the first place, and the second and third are remnants of Soviet upbringing. Was it important for you to win a medal? Did the defeat against CSKA spoil your impressions of the season?

– Of course, I would like to receive a medal. Georgievich correctly said that only the first place remains in memory, the rest is not so important. But I would still like to get my first medal in the RPL with Rostov, to get into the top three. As an athlete, I want to be as high as possible. So after the match, of course, I was upset,” Melekhin said.

Melekhin has been playing for the main team of Rostov since 2021. The 19-year-old played 34 games last season and made 1 assist. Portal Transfermarkt estimates the market value of the defender at 3.5 million euros.
