Beckham on Messi’s move to Inter Miami: ‘There were about a million messages on my phone’
Inter Miami owner David Beckham said he received about a million messages on his phone after seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi decided to continue his career at his club.
“I woke up a couple of weeks ago with about a million messages on my phone. I thought, “What happened? I usually don’t get that much.” Suddenly I heard that Leo announced the transition to Miami. Obviously, this was not a surprise to me.
I have always said that if I have the opportunity to bring the best players to Miami, at whatever stage of their career they are, I will do it. I have always made this commitment to the fans. This is an important moment for us when I hear that one of the best players who has won everything in football wants to play for my team,” Beckham quotes Goal.
In June, Messi left the French Paris Saint-Germain. Subsequently, the Argentinean announced that he would continue his career at Inter Miami.
