“Possible departure of Wendel? If anything, we have other players” – Adamov

Zenit defender Arsen Adamov believes that the possible departure of the Brazilian midfielder Wendel will affect the team, but there are other strong players in the St. Petersburg club.

Earlier, the head coach of Zenit Sergei Semak said that the club allowed Wendel to look for a new team.

— Wendel is a very strong player. One of the best in his position in the championship. Of course, his eventual departure will have an impact. But, if anything, we have other players. Here, the brand new Brazilian Du Queiroz, for example. He is a very good player. They also took Kovalenko,” Adamov told Metaratings.ru.

Wendel’s contract with Zenit is valid until the summer of 2027, the 25-year-old midfielder has not yet returned to the location of the St. Petersburg club.

Wendel moved to Zenit in October 2020. As part of the team, the Brazilian played 88 matches, scored 15 goals, became a three-time champion of Russia and a two-time winner of the country’s Super Cup.

Zenit will meet Red Star on July 4 in the PARI Premier Cup match. Watch the live broadcast of the meeting starting from 19:00 on the Match TV and MATCH PREMIER channels.
