Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU), told Sport24 that, under certain circumstances, the Russian national team could play a friendly match with the Brazilian national team as early as next year.
— Match with Brazil? Right now this is not possible, but we are in negotiations with colleagues from Brazil. I think, under certain circumstances, the match will be held. Most likely as early as next year. It depends on many circumstances, and not only temporary ones,” Mitrofanov said.
Earlier it became known that on September 12, the Russian team will play away with the team of Qatar.
The Russian national team has been suspended from competitions under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA since February 2022. Since then, Valery Karpin’s team has played five friendly matches – with the teams of Kyrgyzstan (2:1), Tajikistan (0:0), Uzbekistan (0:0), Iran (1:1) and Iraq (2:0).
