Malafeev called Vendel one of the backbone players of Zenit
Former Zenit goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev told RB Sport that he considers midfielder Wendel one of the important players for Petersburgers, but Zenit head coach Sergei Semak is able to competently resolve the situation with his absence.
Wendel is absent from Zenit’s application for the new season of the MIR of the Russian Premier League (RPL). Earlier in July, the head coach of the Blue-White-Blues, Sergei Semak, said that the club management had allowed the footballer to look for a new team. At the same time, Semak did not rule out the return of the player to Zenit.
– Wendel, of course, is one of the backbone players of Zenit, and I would not forget about the departure of Daler Kuzyaev. But Sergey Semak has repeatedly competently got out of such situations, he knows how to do it, ”said Malafeev.
Wendel’s contract with the club is valid until the summer of 2027. As part of Zenit, the midfielder became a three-time champion of Russia and a two-time winner of the country’s Super Cup.
