Torpedo goalkeeper Yegor Baburin told RB Sport that he decided to stay in the Moscow club because he had become attached to the team.

In June, Torpedo used the option of buying Baburin’s transfer from Rostov. The contract with the 29-year-old goalkeeper was signed until the end of the 2025/26 season.

– At the end of last season, there was a feeling that you would change the team. Why did you decide to stay?

– We thought for a long time, talked. I decided to stay because I got attached to the team and the club. It turned out well to agree with Rostov on the transition. Everyone benefited from the deal – Torpedo, Rostov, me. The attitude of the coach, president and fans played a very important role. The last season was hard, I want to rehabilitate.

– After the departure of the team from the RPL, you said that the time had not yet come to talk about the reasons for what had happened. Like now?

I don’t think it’s necessary now. The wisest thing to do is to forget the season, but with the right conclusions to make things right.

Baburin last season played for Torpedo on loan, he played 23 matches for the team in all tournaments. According to the results of the 2022/23 season, car manufacturers left the top division of Russian football.
