“Cherchesov is a coach? Funny!” In Hungary, they rejoice after the dismissal of the Russian

And even forgot his old merits.

Stanislav Cherchesov’s career in Hungary ended ingloriously. His “Ferencvaros” sensationally lost to the Faroe “Klaksvik” with a score of 0:3 and left the Champions League already at the stage of the first round of qualification. The defeat cost Salamych his job: literally an hour and a half later, the club announced his dismissal.

The news aroused mixed emotions. On the one hand, no one expected such a humiliation from the little-known Klaksvik. On the other hand, Cherchesov proved himself well in Ferencváros, winning the Hungarian Championship with him twice.

How did the football world react to the dismissal of the Russian coach?

“The President got excited”

Some had hopes that everything would be limited to a serious conversation without resignation. Such an opinion, in particular, was expressed by Mikhail Gershkovich, a member of the executive committee of the Russian Football Union. In an interview with Match TV, he noted that he was upset with the result, but hoped that Cherchesov would remain at the club.

However, the leadership of Ferencváros had other plans in this regard. President Gabor Kubatov held a personal meeting with the head coach, at which he informed him of his resignation. This decision seems emotional – so says the famous football agent Paulo Barbosa.

– Naturally, a specialist could continue to be trusted to build a team. Still, one must understand that over the two years of Cherchesov’s work, the changes in the team were global and significant in a positive direction. This is an unexpected, emotional decision,” Match TV quotes Barboza.

Vice-champion of Russia in football, ex-forward of Dynamo and Lokomotiv Oleg Terekhin also did not understand why Ferencvaros got rid of Cherchesov so quickly. In his opinion, the president of the club can still change his mind.

— Cherchesov did so many good things for the team! And because of one match to dismiss? It is not clear. Maybe the president of the club just got excited, and tomorrow he will cool down and take Cherchesov to work again, – Terekhin told Rusfootball.info.

Resignation expected

At the same time, other experts consider the resignation quite predictable. This opinion, in particular, is shared by the two-time champion of Russia Ruslan Pimenov.

– Of course, such defeats are unacceptable. Cherchesov’s resignation should have been expected now,” Pimenov told a Match TV correspondent.

The former head coach of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” Vlastimil Petrzhela believes that the dismissal has been brewing for a long time.

“That was to be expected. Recently, he has not had good results, Petrzhela told Match TV.

“What a disgrace!”

The defeat against Klaksvik infuriated Ferencváros fans. Even during the match, they called on Cherchesov to resign, chanting the slogans “Russians go home” and “Goodbye” in German. Fans later vented their anger on social media.

– What a disgrace! Everyone should be fired. Lose to a team from the Faroe Islands? Cherchesov is a coach? Funny! tweeted user Gattuso de Itaquera.

– Remove Cherchesov. Ferencváros is terrible after the winter break, and this defeat is simply humiliating, commentator Danielsen Axedal echoes.

– Cherchesova – get out! Terrible specialist, I’ve been saying for a long time. I hope people realize this now,” writes user Gerafan29.

Return to Amkar

Russian football fans are not so categorical in their assessments. Of course, Cherchesov’s departure turned out to be extremely painful, but even in such a situation, his compatriots are ready to find words of support.

– In any case, thanks to Stanislav Salamovich for his work at Ferencváros. It’s a shame, but it’s fair when, after such a loss, they are dismissed,” fans write on social networks.

Cherchesov is already being offered various employment options. In particular, they want to see him in Dynamo Moscow. Some jokingly suggest that the specialist return to Amkar Perm and withdraw him from the Second League to the RPL WORLD.

Where fate will bring the coach is the question. But the decision on a new appointment will obviously be discussed no less than leaving Ferencváros.
