The former head coach of Ural and other RPL clubs, Alexander Tarkhanov, believes that the popularity of football and hockey in Russia is about the same, although football is played more.
Earlier, the well-known coach Andrey Nazarov told the “Championship” that hockey is the number one sport for Russia.

It is impossible to separate it, because this is also our traditional sport, it’s just that more people play football and there are more teams. I can’t divide,” Tarkhanov told Vprognoze.ru.
The new KHL season kicks off on September 1 with a match between CSKA Moscow and Ak Bars Kazan. The new season of the MIR RPL starts on July 21 with the Dynamo-Krasnodar match.
