Messi wins League Cup with Inter Miami
Argentine striker Lionel Messi and the Inter Miami team won the League Cup final, which took place on the night of August 19-20 at the Geodis Park stadium in Nashville (USA).
The opponent of the team from Florida was the home team, the Nashville club of the same name. In regular time, they played a draw – 1:1. Messi opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and in the 57th minute, Nashville striker Fafa Pico scored the return goal.
In the penalty shoot-out, Inter Miami turned out to be more accurate (10:9) and became the winner of the tournament. For the team of David Beckham, this cup was the first in history, and for Messi – the 44th in his career.
At the tournament, Messi played seven matches, scored ten goals and made one assist.
