New details have been revealed in the betting case of West Ham footballer Lucas Paqueta, according to the Daily Mail.

The five-month investigation was revealed after the first reports appeared in the media about violations of the rules by the football player regarding bets.

Paqueta received a yellow card in all three matches being investigated by the English Football Federation (FA) in what is believed to be the reason for the derailment of the player’s £85m transfer to Manchester City agreed by the clubs. The media also previously reported that due to the scandal, the player will miss the September matches of the Brazilian national team.

The first yellow card in question is a yellow card he received against Aston Villa on 11 March. The second is a card for a foul on a Leeds player on 21 May. Paqueta was unaware that he was already under investigation during the game against Bournemouth on 12 July. In that game, the midfielder also received a yellow card.

The investigation began when several bookmakers in Brazil received an unusual number of bets that a player would be booked against Aston Villa in March.
