Former goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ruslan Nigmatullin believes that the absence of one main goalkeeper in Spartak does not benefit the team.
This season, the Red-White goalkeepers were defended by three goalkeepers – Alexander Selikhov, Alexander Maksimenko and Ilya Svinov. On Tuesday, Spartak defeated Dynamo at home in the Russian Cup with a score of 4:1.
– Does Spartak have a problem that even after the starting period the club has not decided on the main goalkeeper? Selikhov, who played last season, came out in one last match with Akhmat, before that either Svinov or Maksimenko entered the field.
– This is an extremely bad situation for goalkeepers, because they will all play unstable and understand that after every mistake they will be in the reserve, because there are two guys waiting there.
This is based on personal experience, because I have seen many such situations. For example, when I was in Spartak and competed with Filimonov. Leapfrog with goalkeepers is a problem both for the whole team and for goalkeepers, because the main goalkeeper must wake up as the main one, go to breakfast as the main one, go to the sauna as the main one – this is psychology. A good confident goalkeeper is a properly psychologically prepared person,” Nigmatullin told Metaratings.ru.
Last season, only Selikhov (28 matches) and Maksimenko (14 matches) played for Spartak.
