Former Dynamo Moscow defender Radoslav Batak said that Oleg Romantsev, who worked as the head coach of the Blue and Whites in 2004–2005, immediately recognized a talented football player in Brazilian defender Thiago Silva.

Silva moved to Dynamo from Portuguese side Porto in 2005, but never played a single match because he fell ill with tuberculosis.

— We trained with Thiago Silva several times. Oleg Romantsev immediately predicted that he was a very talented football player, but it is a well-known story that he fell ill with tuberculosis and soon returned to Brazil.

— It’s no secret that Romantsev loved to drink. Could he come to training drunk?

“I’ve never seen this,” Batak told Metaratings.

Subsequently, the Brazilian played for Milan, PSG and Chelsea, becoming the champion of Italy and France, as well as the winner of the Champions League.
