General Director of Moscow Spartak Oleg Malyshev said that the team’s forward Quincy Promes has not yet received Russian citizenship, noting that “the process related to the Russian passport” has been launched.

A court in Amsterdam previously sentenced Promes to 18 months in prison and compensation of seven thousand euros in the case of attacking his cousin. In March, the head of the Spartak press service, Dmitry Zelenov, told the media that the Russian Ministry of Sports refused to assist the Dutch football player in obtaining citizenship due to legal proceedings.

— Is it true that Promes has already received Russian citizenship?

– I haven’t received it yet. The information is not true.

— Is the process running?

— At the moment, another process is underway.

— Is this process related to the Russian passport?

“Yes,” Malyshev told RB Sport.

Promes returned to Spartak in 2021; he played 223 matches for the red and white team and scored 109 goals.
