Cherchesov named his top three goalkeepers in the history of Russian football
Former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov told who he considers the best goalkeepers in the history of Russian football.
— Top 3 goalkeepers in the history of domestic football, in your opinion?
– If you take my generation – Dasaev, Akinfeev, Ovchinnikov. Also Kharin.
— Do you put Dasaev above Akinfeev?
— They are different in style and temperament. Now I wouldn’t put someone lower, someone higher… It’s just that Rinat was officially recognized as the best goalkeeper in the world and this gives some kind of bonus. Well, we played together, I tried to look at him. And Igor is a brilliant goalkeeper. There is a teammate – Rinat Dasaev, and there is your player when you lead the team. And in this regard, Igor was irreplaceable in my team,” RB Sport quotes Dasaev as saying.
Akinfeev played 110 matches for the Russian national team, in which he missed 95 goals. Sergei Ovchinnikov scored 40 goals in 36 matches.
Dasaev played 91 matches for the USSR national team, in which he missed 70 goals.
