Brazil defeated Peru away in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match.
The meeting took place in Lima and ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of the guests. Brazil’s victory was brought by a precise strike from Marquinhos in the 90th minute after an assist from Neymar.
Before the match, El Diario reported that Peruvian shamans performed a curse ritual against Neymar to prevent him from successfully playing in this match. Shamans, dressed in colorful traditional woolen outfits, set up an altar at the National Stadium with amulets, swords, flags and photographs of players from both teams, and tied a rag doll of Neymar to the player’s leg.
After two matches, Brazil has scored six points and is in first place in the qualifying group. Peru has one point.
