Venezuelan Akron striker Andres Ponce reacted positively to the possibility of holding a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Venezuela.
Ponce played seven matches for the Venezuelan national team, scoring one goal. The last time he wore a national team jersey was in October 2020. At the moment, the Russian national team plays only friendly matches, as it is not allowed to participate in international tournaments by decisions of FIFA and UEFA.
— It seems to me that our teams are very similar. As for strength, it’s 50/50. Now Venezuela has a large number of good football players playing in top European championships: in Spain, in France. Anything can happen in football. You cannot know in advance who is stronger without playing with this team.
— In this case, should we hold matches between our teams?
– I would like. This would be a huge opportunity for me. We would be able to assess what form we are in now, whether we are better than the Russian national team or worse,” Ponce said in an interview with Metaratings.ru.
