Former Russian national team player Alexander Mostovoy responded to the statement of the head coach of Spartak Moscow Guillermo Abascal.
Earlier, Mostovoy said that the Spanish specialist “as he was a no-name, will remain so.” To this Abaskal said: “When you speak badly about a person you don’t know, your words say more about you than about him. Ignorance is common among those who might want to be in your shoes.”
“Never in my life would I want to be in Guillermo Abascal’s place.” Because he somehow ends up in places where he shouldn’t be. I don’t want to say that he shouldn’t be in Spartak at the moment. He just got there by accident. People who come to coaching from football cannot find normal work, but people like Abascal get a great chance.
And if he wants to find out something about Mostovoy, then let him go to the Internet. There is YouTube, there is Wikipedia. You can open it and see how I played and play football. And I’m not interested in what else Abaskal will say about me. He is not a football person. His opinion is not important to me. It’s just that now he was offended by my comments, because no one likes the truth. That’s why he says this.
If Abascal wins the trophy with Spartak this season, he still won’t be any higher for me professionally. He doesn’t know what professional football is. And Valery Karpin, who has not yet been destined to win a trophy, will stand above Abascal for me as a coach. This is my clear position, and I will never change my opinion,” Mostovoy told RT.
Abaskal has been heading Spartak since June 2022. After seven rounds, the Moscow club is in ninth place in the RPL season 2023/24 with 10 points. In the next match, the “red-whites” will play against “Sochi” on September 16. The live broadcast will begin on the MATCH PREMIER channel from 18:55 (Moscow time), as well as on the websites sportbox.ru matchtv.ru.
