“It’s surprising why Spartak didn’t strengthen the defense line” – Kechinov

Former Spartak footballer Valery Kechinov said that he still has questions about the red-white summer transfer campaign.
The capital club acquired defenders Srdjan Babic and Oleg Ryabchuk, midfielder Theo Bongonda and Jesus Medina and loaned out forwards Shamar Nicholson and Keith Balde.
— If we analyze the transfer work of Spartak, the “red-whites” bought more than they sold. Given the large size of the clip, does this surprise you?
“Only one thing surprises me: why they didn’t strengthen the defense line.” They bought Babich and Ryabchuk, but the left-back position did not need much strengthening. Khlusevich can play there, Denisov. There are performers no weaker than Ryabchuk. We saw Babich only in a few matches. It is clear that defense is a problem area. But they were more willing to strengthen the position of wingers, where there are already many players.
— Besides Nicholson and Balde, maybe it was worth letting someone else go?
— They get rid of those players who play little and whom the coach does not count on. This means that Abascal needs the rest of the guys. Although there are football players who play almost exclusively in the Cup. Maybe the coach sees the near future in such guys. Or maybe clubs are looking for someone, but there are no offers yet.
— Another of our leaders, Dynamo, sold for 28 million euros and bought for 20. That is, it was simply a recruitment to replace the departed players. What do you think about this?
“Only the game will show the results of the Blue and White’s transfer work.” Those players who were sold made the team stronger. Now let’s see who was bought in their place,” Kechinov said in an interview with Euro-football.ru.
