Cypriot Aris lost to Sparta Prague in the first round match of the Europa League group stage.

The meeting of Group C took place in Prague and ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the hosts. Russian striker Alexander Kokorin opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting a penalty. This goal was the striker’s first in European competition since 2018.

In the 70th minute, Kokorin received a yellow card, and 5 minutes later he was replaced.

Martin Vitik (67) and Ladislav Krejci, who scored a double (20, 25), scored for Sparta. At the end of the match, the Cypriot club reduced the gap to a minimum – Xavi Babika scored (90).

In the next round, Aris will play at home with Rangers on October 5, Sparta will go to visit Betis on the same day.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino He commented on World Cup ticket prices, saying they reflected “absolutely insane” demand for next summer’s tournament:
