Karpin’s wife explained the coach’s words about a possible departure from Russia

The wife of the head coach of Rostov and the Russian national football team Valery Karpin, Daria, explained her husband’s statement that he might leave Russia.

Earlier, Karpin said that it was “difficult for him to imagine that the family would live in Estonia, and he would work in Russia,” so perhaps “in three months he will say goodbye.” The Karpins are natives of the Estonian city of Narva.

— Imagine, he wasn’t home for 20 days in a month. He travels again in October and November. So he said that he would travel like this a couple more times – he would get tired of it. For now we are in Rostov. But next summer, according to plans, the children and I actually return to Estonia, because our youngest daughter will go to study there.

— How likely is it that Valery Georgievich will go with you?

– Don’t know. I don’t want to make predictions. Everything is changing here, from the situation in the world to the situation in football. In this sport, something can change even without our plans to move. Now the plan is that I will move to Estonia with the girls. We’ll see what happens next.

— It turns out that the words about three months were spoken more out of emotion?

– Certainly. Imagine, a person doesn’t see his family for three weeks. And he is very attached to his family. You can take the example of Roman Eremenko, who left just when his daughters were born. But again: this is football, something can happen here without any relation to our plans. “The fact that the girls and I are planning to move, yes,” RB Sport quotes Daria Karpina.

The Russian national team has been suspended from participation in tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA since February last year due to the situation in Ukraine. On September 12, Karpin’s team tied with the Qatar team (1:1) in an away friendly match. Another national team team played two games with the Egyptian Olympic team on September 8 and 11 (1:1, 1:2).

Karpin has led the Russian national team since July 2021; in November 2022, he extended his contract until August 2024.

Semin spoke out in favor of returning to the classic format of the Russian Cup

The old format of the Russian Cup with knockout matches made the football tournament more entertaining and understandable. This opinion was expressed by the former coach of the Russian national team Yuri Semin.

Previously, the Telegram channel Sport Baza reported that the Russian Football Federation (RFU) plans to change the format of the tournament, returning to a single-elimination format.

“I liked the old format of the Russian Cup. It was a real cup draw. I think it’s worth returning to the classic system of knockout matches,” Semin said.

“It was more interesting like this: you arrive in a Second or First League team, you see the full stadiums, the real emotion. This format is closer to me. Everything is clear and understandable, if you lose you’re out,” he added.

From the 2022/23 season the tournament is divided into “path RPL” and “Path of the regions”. “Path RPL“includes the clubs of the Russian Premier League, divided into four groups, playing two rounds, a total of six matches. According to the results of the group stage, the first two places go to the upper round of the playoffs, the third to the lower round, and the fourth is eliminated. The Path of Regions consists of qualifying rounds involving amateur teams and clubs from the Second League. At the stage of the fourth preliminary round, clubs from the First League join the winners of the third round. Sixteen winners play according to the cup (one match), the top four teams are added to the lower round of the Russian Cup playoffs. The winners of the “path” will meet in the super final RPL” and “paths of the regions”.

The current holder of the Russian Cup is Moscow CSKA.

Dynamo planned to fire Shovkovsky in the summer. Why did you wait four months?

Former coach of Dynamo Kiev Alexander Showkovsky He should have been sacked in August after a poor performance in the Champions League qualifiers.

The blue-whites, who lost twice to Cypriot Paphos in the 3rd round of the European Cup (0:1 and 0:2), were relegated to the Europa League and then promoted to the Conference League.

“I know that Dinamo management believes that a change of coach could and should be made in the summer, after they lost to Paphos in the Champions League qualifiers.

Then an opportunity arose. But the necessary candidate was not available,” the source said.

Due to the lack of alternatives, the president of the Kiev club decided to leave Shovkovsky as head coach, but in November the Ukrainian specialist was nevertheless fired and left Dynamo.
