Former Levante coach Juanjo Maqueda had harsh words for Luis Rubiales, who was playing in the team at the time.
The former head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, kissed soccer player Jenny Hermoso on the lips during the awards ceremony after the 2023 World Cup final. After this, the football player said that it was unpleasant for her and she “did not consent to the kiss.” The head of the RFEF was suspended from football activities for 90 days and later resigned from his post in the federation.
— He was my footballer at Levante, it’s true. He was a damn bad player. As a leader, what can I tell you? I don’t know how he achieved such success.
He was a snitch. Juan Ramon Lopez Caro and I tried to get rid of him because of how bad he was. We were in the First Division and this guy wasn’t even fit for League Two. He ran as if confused. But the president never wanted to part with him. Logical: we later found out that he was his confidant.
He deserved to be kicked out as RFEF President much sooner. It took too long. I don’t know if it’s true that he has compromising information on other managers. Maybe that’s why they covered this whole shame so much,” Marca quotes Makeda as saying.
