“Let them go.” Akinfeev supported Karpin’s advice to Russian football players
CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev told how he feels about the words of the head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin, who advised Russian football players to go to European clubs.
Earlier, Karpin called on players to leave for European clubs. Later, in an interview with Match TV, he explained that during the press conference they were talking specifically about the best European championships, and his words on the topic were taken out of context.
– How did you react to these words?
– Absolutely normal – let them go. If someone is waiting for them there, then please. Kuzyaev left, Sasha Golovin has been playing there for six years. Why not? If there is an offer and you are ready to try your hand at the European Championship, conditionally, in Real Madrid or Barcelona, or like Golovin in Monaco, go ahead. Nobody will say whether this is good or bad. It’s your choice. If I wanted to, I left and tried. It turned out okay. No – well, sorry.
There is a good relationship between us goalkeepers. I always said: you can’t envy anyone. You do your job here, the other person does it there. But there is only one boat. I’m talking specifically about the goalkeeper shop. You understand that you can play well, or you can miss an offensive goal, you know what emotions there are. Sometimes we share this cuisine among ourselves,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Akinfeev as saying.
As part of CSKA, Akinfeev became a six-time Russian champion, won seven national Cups and Super Cups, and also won the UEFA Cup.
Live broadcasts of the MIR RPL and FONBET Russian Cup matches can be watched on the Match TV and MATCH PREMIER TV channels, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
