“It happens that the football god punishes you” – Licka about Berisha’s missed chance in the match with Akhmat

Dynamo Moscow head coach Marcel Licka commented on Match TV on the missed scoring chance by Akhmat Grozny midfielder Bernard Berisha at the end of the 10th round match of the MIR RPL.

The meeting in Grozny ended with the score 1:1. At the end of the game, Berisha’s shot hit the post, and then Daniel Junior was unable to finish it into the empty net.

— Did you like the match?

— I can say that the game was good and open. We can say that my players played a quality match. Unfortunately, we are missing the last 25–30 meters to solve the problem. As a coach, I analyze this. I need to think about what I can do better in training so that the team starts winning.

— Berisha didn’t score after going one-on-one at the end.

— It happens in football: you don’t score one, two, and a third opportunity comes. It happens that the football god punishes you. You have three chances – you can’t score. The opponent has one chance, and he doesn’t score. Goals still decide.

— Is a draw a fair result?

— It’s hard to speak emotionally. I can say that “Akhmat” also looks interesting. Fast and smart players, quick transitions forward. We had good possession of the ball, but in the final third the opponent made better decisions,” Match TV quoted Lichka as saying.

Akhmat head coach Miroslav Romashchenko noted that the point scored can be added to the team’s asset.

– You always want more. We know the strength of the opponent, we prepared, we understood how he structures the game. But they still tried to dance on their own. Some things were successful, some were not, but this is not our fault, but the merit of our opponent. One point is a plus, but we wanted to cause trouble for this good team. We wanted to take three points, it was a double-edged game, we created chances that did not end in goals. Such moments need to be implemented. Nevertheless, thanks to the guys for their fighting qualities and diligence. With our small problems – we compensate for the lack of a specialized central defender with the presence of an extreme left defender, we put the left one on the right.

— Akhmat doesn’t score so often in the second half. What is the reason?

“I wouldn’t like to tell the whole world the reasons.” We are working to eliminate them. There is too little time – there are always microcycles of three matches through a large preparatory week-long cycle. You only have time to recover; it is very difficult to compensate for such problems during the season. We focus the guys on the fact that in such situations you need to be more clear in the penalty area, despite the points that you indicated,” Romashchenko said.

“Akhmat” scored 12 points and is in tenth place in the Russian Championship table, Lichka’s team is in 7th place with 16 points.

In the next round, on October 8, Akhmat will host Rubin Kazan, and Dynamo will play at home with Fakel Voronezh on the same day.
