“Orenburg” won a strong-willed victory over “Sochi” on the road and reached the quarterfinals of the RPL Path of the Russian Cup ahead of schedule

“Orenburg” beat “Sochi” away in the match of the fifth round of the group stage of the RPL FONBET Russian Football Cup.

The meeting of Group A was held at the Fisht stadium and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the guests. Vladimir Obukhov (27th minute, from the penalty spot) and Jimmy Marin (63) scored goals for the winners. Artem Meshchaninov (17) scored for the home team.

In the 89th minute, Orenburg defender Mikhail Sivakov was sent off for rough play.

Orenburg scored 11 points and takes first place in the group. David Deogracia’s team reached the quarterfinals of the RPL Path of the Russian Cup ahead of schedule. Sochi is fourth with five points and has lost its chance of reaching the playoffs of the RPL Path.

In the final round of the group stage, Orenburg will play away against CSKA on November 2, while Sochi will host Fakel Voronezh the day before.
