Atalanta defeated Sporting in an away Europa League match

Italian Atalanta defeated Portuguese Sporting in the second round match of the Europa League group stage.
The Group D meeting took place in Lisbon and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the guests. Giorgio Scalvini (33rd minute) and Matteo Ruggeri (43 minutes) scored for the winners, while Victor Giekeres (76) scored from the penalty spot for the visitors.
Atalanta’s Russian midfielder Alexey Miranchuk spent the match in reserve.
Atalanta scored 6 points and maintained its lead in the standings, Sporting (3) is second. Also participating in the quartet are the Austrian “Sturm” (3) and the Polish “Rakow” (0).
In the next match, Atalanta will visit Sturm, and Sporting will play away against Rakow. Both meetings will take place on October 26.
