The Copa del Rey 2023-2024, as in every season, gathers the enthusiasm of everyone: from the regional football teams to the biggest A’ Division. A total of 115 participants aspire to win the trophy contested since 1903. This season the run starts on October 11, 2023, with the qualifying round and ends on April 6, 2024 with the final.

The road to glory is about to begin. The King’s Cup kicks off this season with the qualifying round: ten exciting matches between local football teams dreaming of winning to face a First Division team.

The draw for the qualifying round of the Copa del Rey 2023-2024

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, the draw for the qualifying round of the Copa del Rey 2023-2024 took place at Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas. The headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation was the place chosen to match the dream of 20 teams representing the territory’s football, whose 10 winners, in individual matches, will have access to the final phase of the tournament.

All groups were divided into four groups taking into account the criterion of geographical proximity.

The draw for the first qualifying round of the Copa del Rey 2023-2024

The draw for the first qualifying round will take place on Tuesday 17 October 2023 at RFEF headquarters. In this case, the teams that participated in the previous season in: Division A (16), Division B (20), Division A (18), Division B (34), Division C (8), the 4 semi-finals of the Cup will participate Federation and the 10 winning teams of the previous qualifying round.

Real Madrid, Osasuna, Barcelona and Atletico Madridfor participation in the Super Cup 2023, it is are excluded from participating in the first two rounds. While SD Amorebieta, as champions of the First Federation, will start their journey in the second qualifying round.

How will the couples be made?

Pairings will be drawn, pitting, as far as possible, clubs from the lower division against clubs from the higher division, the clubs being divided into as many cups as there are divisions remaining in the competition.

Matches will be played at the ground of the clubs in the lowest division, provided they meet the minimum requirements set by the RFEF and, if they belong to the same division, those of the teams whose ball was drawn first.

Alexey Meleshin appointed head coach of the youth team of the Moscow football club “Spartak”. This was reported by the red and white press service.
