Milan forward Giroud joined the Serie A team of the year as a goalkeeper

Milan striker Olivier Giroud was included in the symbolic team for the 8th round of Serie A as a goalkeeper.
On Saturday, Milan beat Genoa 1:0 away. Christian Pulisic scored the only goal in the 87th minute. In added time to the second half, Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan received a red card; for the rest of the match, Giroud defended the visitors’ goal, as Stefano Pioli made all five substitutions. In the remaining time, Giroud, wearing Maignan’s jersey, twice saved Milan from conceding a goal.
Earlier, the French national team announced the squad for the qualifying match with the Netherlands (October 13) and a friendly game with the Scots (October 17), also joking about the situation with Giroud. The team’s social media account also listed the striker as one of the goalkeepers with the comment: “So we had to update the list.”
