The Argentina national team won a home victory over the Paraguayan team in the third round of the South American qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup.
The meeting ended with a score of 1:0. The winning goal was scored by Nicolas Otamendi. Argentine forward Lionel Messi entered the field in the 53rd minute and did not make any impact.
The Argentines scored 9 points and continue to lead the standings, Paraguay is in eighth place with 1 point.
Brazil missed out on a 1-1 win over Venezuela at home, conceding in the 85th minute. Gabriel scored the goal for the hosts and was assisted by Neymar.
In other matches, Ecuador defeated Bolivia (2:1), Peru lost to Chile (0:2), and Colombia and Uruguay shared points (2:2).
