The Enisey goalkeeper wanted to teach the impudent ballboy a lesson, but in the end he received a red card.

After the final whistle in the First League match, the Yenisei players rushed to the boy serving the balls, intending to teach him a lesson for his impudent act. A terrible fate awaited the unfortunate man, but he was still saved from the massacre.

The brawl ended in ejection.

Enisey players’ anger

In the match of the 14th round of the MELBET First League, Khimki hosted Krasnoyarsk Yenisei. The winning and only goal in this game was scored by a footballer from the Moscow Region team, Butta Magomedov, in the 12th minute. After the final whistle, satisfied with the result, but tired, the hosts began to collapse onto the lawn. But some players of the Siberian team still had the strength to organize a race and even try to organize a brawl.

Yenisei goalkeeper Evgeniy Staver, in the company of several other partners, rushed to the boy serving the balls with bad intentions. This episode had a prehistory – in the last seconds, the ballboy treated his duties unprofessionally – instead of giving the ball to the goalkeeper, he pointedly threw it to the side.

You can understand the anger of the Yenisei players, but you still need to control yourself! Verbal complaints began to be accompanied by attempts at physical force. True, the recipient of the aggression was not left alone; Khimki players rushed to his defense. Some active fans of the red-blacks also expressed their intention to help the boy.

Fortunately, a massacre was avoided. But the main culprit of the incident did not go unpunished. They tried to neutralize Staver with common efforts even at the moment of his race. And when the passions subsided a little, the chief referee Igor Nizovtsev showed Evgeniy a red card. The goalkeeper was outraged, but could not do anything about the referee’s decision and was forced to leave the scene.

Along the way, the visiting goalkeeper ignored one of the opponents, who wanted to end things peacefully. The confrontation between the remaining players did not continue; some even shook hands. The referee walked around the field with a red card in his hands, but did not send anyone else off.

Semin spoke out in favor of returning to the classic format of the Russian Cup

The old format of the Russian Cup with knockout matches made the football tournament more entertaining and understandable. This opinion was expressed by the former coach of the Russian national team Yuri Semin.

Previously, the Telegram channel Sport Baza reported that the Russian Football Federation (RFU) plans to change the format of the tournament, returning to a single-elimination format.

“I liked the old format of the Russian Cup. It was a real cup draw. I think it’s worth returning to the classic system of knockout matches,” Semin said.

“It was more interesting like this: you arrive in a Second or First League team, you see the full stadiums, the real emotion. This format is closer to me. Everything is clear and understandable, if you lose you’re out,” he added.

From the 2022/23 season the tournament is divided into “path RPL” and “Path of the regions”. “Path RPL“includes the clubs of the Russian Premier League, divided into four groups, playing two rounds, a total of six matches. According to the results of the group stage, the first two places go to the upper round of the playoffs, the third to the lower round, and the fourth is eliminated. The Path of Regions consists of qualifying rounds involving amateur teams and clubs from the Second League. At the stage of the fourth preliminary round, clubs from the First League join the winners of the third round. Sixteen winners play according to the cup (one match), the top four teams are added to the lower round of the Russian Cup playoffs. The winners of the “path” will meet in the super final RPL” and “paths of the regions”.

The current holder of the Russian Cup is Moscow CSKA.
