Venezuela national football player avoids prison term for beating ex-wife’s boyfriend
The striker of the Venezuelan national team and Valladolid, Darwin Machis, avoided a prison sentence for beating his ex-wife’s boyfriend, Marca reports.
According to the source, the court fined the 30-year-old forward 9,600 euros and also banned him from communicating with his ex-wife and coming within 100 meters of her for two years.
The incident occurred in April 2021 in the Spanish city of Churriana de la Vega, when the Venezuelan footballer played for Granada. According to witnesses, Machis and three accomplices beat his ex-wife’s boyfriend in a diner and then fled in a car. The prosecutor’s office demanded a four-year prison sentence for the football player.
This season, Machis plays for Cadiz on loan. In eight matches of the Spanish championship, he scored two goals and received one red card.
