The expert refereeing commission under the President of the Russian Football Union (ESK RFU) admitted the error of the refereeing team led by Rafael Shafeev during the attack that led to the winning goal of Krasnodar in the match of the 11th round of the MIR RPL with Rostov, the press reports RFU service.
The meeting took place in Krasnodar on October 7 and ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the Bulls. Krasnodar forward John Cordoba scored the winning goal in stoppage time. Later, Rostov head coach Valery Karpin expressed doubt that this goal was counted correctly, since it was an offside position. “Rostov” turned to the ESC. The commission decided that the referee erroneously counted the goal.

— The decision of the ESC was motivated by the fact that the player of the attacking team “Krasnodar” Sergei Volkov, who gave the assist, in the opinion of the commission members, was in an offside position at the moment the ball was passed to him by his teammate. Due to VAR’s lack of offside lines and the fact that the incident occurred outside the offside camera line, VAR did not have clear evidence of an obvious error by the assistant, and therefore the panel considers that there was no obvious basis for VAR’s intervention, the release said.
