General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov shared his opinion on the Russia-Kenya friendly match.

The game took place the day before in Antalya, Turkey and ended with a score of 2:2.

— We had three mistakes, they led to two goals. We probably didn’t show our best level of play. We cannot be satisfied with the result; we hoped for something else. But it is important that the team continues to play. From the point of view of the quality of football, listening to the head coach’s assessment would be more fair.

— After Cameroon, there was a surge of positive emotions around the national team. Do you think there will be criticism again now?

— It is also important that we played with Cameroon at home, in Moscow, at an almost completely filled VTB Arena. Of course, when our fans drive the team forward, the players feel that there is no room for error, the team plays completely differently. We couldn’t play the match with Kenya anywhere else. But this is not an excuse that we played on a neutral field,” RB Sport quotes Mitrofanov.
