Karpin named the best match of the Russian national team during his suspension
Head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin called the friendly match with Cameroon one of the best under his leadership in terms of the quality of play during the team’s suspension from international tournaments.
On October 12, the Russian team played with the Cameroon team in Moscow. The meeting ended with a score of 1:0, the only goal being scored by forward Fedora Chalova.
– Yes, I share this opinion. Not everything was clear (it worked out), but many moments pleased me. Both attitude and intensity. Again, the intensity depends on both sides. If the opposing team forces you to act more intensely, then the level of resistance is different. I was pleased that against Cameroon the team maintained this intensity, rhythm and tempo for 90 minutes.
For example, this did not happen with Iran. There were segments with Qatar. With Cameroon, the game was more complete for all 90 minutes. You could lose, you could win or you could play a draw. “I’m purely driven by the game,” Championship quoted Karpin as saying.
Also at the October training camp, the Russian team played a friendly match with Kenya in Turkey, the game ended in a draw (2:2).
