Spartak head coach Guillermo Abascal did the right thing by applying sanctions to forward Alexander Sobolev; the specialist is upset by the player’s passion for computer games, says former Rubin footballer Alexey Popov.

Earlier, journalist Ivan Karpov reported that Abaskal, after the 10th round match with Krylia Sovetov (0:4), suspended the forward from training in the general group until his return from the Russian national team due to a violation of discipline. The press service of Spartak stated that they do not comment on the measures taken by the coaching staff in relation to anyone.

– Abaskal did the right thing. Football is a team sport, where you have to obey the team, and not live in your own world. The coach is upset by Sobolev’s passion for computer games and streams, this greatly affects the human brain. It’s clear from Sobolev that he is inadequate, and his lifestyle is to blame for this,” Match TV quotes Popov as saying.

This season, Sobolev has played 10 matches in all tournaments, scored 4 goals and made 3 assists.
