Rostov President Artashes Harutyunyants noted that the head coach of the Rostov team and the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, drew attention to forward Mohammad Mohebbi during the national team’s friendly game with Iran.

Mohebbi moved to Rostov in the summer. In total, the footballer played 14 games for Rostov in all tournaments, in which he scored two goals and gave three assists. The national teams of Russia and Iran played a friendly match on March 23, the meeting ended with a score of 1:1.

— How did it happen that Rostov paid attention to Mohebbi?

— It was Karpin who noticed it, not the breeders. The Russian team played against Iran. Valery Georgievich said that there is a good guy there, let’s find out about him. Our sports director contacted Mohebbi’s agent, the selectors watched the matches, compiled reports, we held preliminary negotiations, and only then I went to Moscow to sign a contract with his representatives.

— Did Valery Georgievich recommend anyone else?

— He doesn’t deal with transfers for us. So I don’t remember this,” RB Sport quotes Harutyunyants as saying.
