Manchester United footballer Alejandro Garnacho is facing proceedings from the Football Association of England (FA) due to a publication on social networks regarding goalkeeper Andre Onan, The Athletic reports.
Garnacho, 19, posted a congratulatory post on social media following Manchester United’s 1-0 Champions League win over Copenhagen, with Onana saving a penalty in second-half stoppage time.
The Argentina international added a gorilla emoji to the post along with a photo of the victory celebration featuring Onan, his teammates and Alejandro himself.
The FA are aware of the post, which was later deleted by the player. The association requested Garnacho’s comments on the publication.
The Cameroon national team goalkeeper himself said that he was not offended by his teammate: “People can’t choose what to be offended by. Garnacho’s post meant power and strength. There is no need to imagine this any further.”
