Ex-president of Lokomotiv Naumov answered a question about Galaktionov’s future at the club

Mikhail Galaktionov is a young coach, so a lot is forgiven to him, but Lokomotiv does not have a question about the specialist’s resignation, says former Red-Greens president Nikolai Naumov.

Galaktionov took charge of Lokomotiv in November 2022. In the current Russian championship, the railway workers scored 20 points in 12 matches and are in fifth place.

— It seems to me that the whole Lokomotiv is the opening of the season. Galaktionov seems to be able to somehow stabilize the squad and make the game. I really like that they brought Silyanov back. I see him as a very strong defender. I would call Karpukas a discovery at Lokomotiv. This guy seemed to quietly join the lineup, but today I think that he cements the entire middle of Lokomotiv. It is a big plus that we have such a player. Lantratov is also very impressed. “I didn’t feel very good about the fact that Guilherme was removed, but the way Lantratov acts makes me very happy,” Naumov noted.

– Who, on the contrary, is still disappointing?

— I was upset that Pinyaev lost a little. But this is typical for young football players; they cannot play all games consistently. However, this is not a failure. We must expect more from Glushenkov – this is the first thing. Secondly, the situation with Kulikov upset me, because I saw that the guy could grow into a great football player, but he was lost. And the third one who disappoints now is Rybchinsky. I always thought that he would play tomorrow, but he also stopped growing.

— For the last two seasons at Lokomotiv there have been coaching changes during the season. Do you think Galaktionov has a high chance of finishing work before the summer of 2024?

— Galaktionov must play until the end of the season. But, of course, there are complaints against him. Galaktionov is a strong coach, but his problem is that he does not know how to influence the result during the break of a match. If you see that the first half did not work out, then you must make sure that a completely different team comes out for the second half. Unfortunately, Galaktionov does not have such a skill. He is a young coach, so he can be forgiven a lot. But I don’t think that Lokomotiv is considering his resignation,” Sport Day by Day quotes Naumov.
