“From year to year, Rostov is not stable. So far I don’t think that they have hit a white streak” – Andrey Gordeev

It is too early to say that Rostov, having defeated Lokomotiv in the 13th round of the Russian Championship, has come out of the crisis, says football expert and former Torpedo coach Andrei Gordeev.

The meeting took place on Saturday in Rostov-on-Don and ended in victory for the home team with a score of 1:0.

— Were you surprised by Lokomotiv’s defeat to Rostov?

— The rivals are at different poles, but with Rostov any team must understand how to counteract. Here you still need to choose the right tactics. If you play with the Rostovites very closely and meet them high at your goal, then this is one of the best teams that comes out of their goal. With this tactic, the Rostovites are in their element and have an advantage. This must be taken into account. Therefore, the result of the match with Lokomotiv should not be surprising. If Rostov’s roster had been a little better, he could have counted on something more. And Lokomotiv is now playing with understanding. I believe that Galaktionov’s work can and should be celebrated. The team has everything in place. And defeats happen. It is clear that there is a team, and this is the most important thing. With this type of work there will definitely be results.

“Nevertheless, now the team’s results are somewhat surprising in the sense that Lokomotiv last scored in the tenth round. What is this connected with?

— There can be many twists and turns. There are moments, but implementation is a delicate matter. In general, good coaching work is visible, this should be credited to the club.

— Rostov has a second shutout win in a row. Can we say that a white streak has begun?

– I’m not sure about that. From year to year, Rostov is not stable if you take the entire season. Partly there are problems with rotation, partly it’s the existing mentality. So far I don’t think it’s a white line. In some matches, the southerners can look interesting, but over the course of the race, statistics show that there are problems.

— “Krylya Sovetov” played a draw with “Orenburg”. Before that, the Samara team lost to PARI NN and Zenit. Is the team losing ground?

— Rather, everything falls into place. They played on the wave, but where would it take them? The fact that we managed to create this wave is great, but now the next stage begins – to hold on. And this is much more difficult. There’s only so much emotion here. In any case, it is always good for the championship when dark horses appear. But we understand that the level of teams in the RPL is slightly different,” Gordeev said in an interview with Euro-football.ru.

Rostov is in ninth place in the RPL standings, gaining 16 points in 13 matches.

INFANTINO: “If there was no FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino He commented on World Cup ticket prices, saying they reflected “absolutely insane” demand for next summer’s tournament:

“We have six to seven million tickets and in 15 days we received 150 million ticket requests. So every day we have 10 million requests. This shows how strong the World Cup is.”

FIFA has sold just 44 million tickets in almost 100 years of the World Cup. So we were able to sell tickets for the 300th anniversary of the World Cup in two weeks. Just imagine. “This is absolutely crazy.”

Infantino also noted that funds from ticket sales would be reinvested into world football, but did not specify a specific amount:

“The important thing is that the revenue from this goes back into football around the world. If it weren’t for FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world. Football exists thanks to the revenues we get from the World Cup, and we reinvest that into football around the world.”

Previously, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on FIFA to further reduce 2026 World Cup ticket prices.
