Krasnodar head coach Vladimir Ivich named CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev the best player of the match of the 13th round of the Russian Championship.
On Sunday, Krasnodar lost to CSKA in the away match of the 13th round of the MIR RPL – 0:1, Fedor Chalov scored a goal in the 41st minute. After the game, the best player award was awarded to the striker.
— I want to congratulate CSKA on the victory. It was a good match. We were better, we had many chances. The opponent had two chances. The last 30 minutes were played in the opponent’s half. Butchie had a chance, he didn’t take it. The last passes were not assists. When you play against CSKA, their goalkeeper becomes the best player, everything is obvious.
— The team is in first place. Zenit is catching up. Nobody canceled the competition; in the last matches they gave away 5 points. Was this a surprise to you?
— When we started the season, no one asked to be in first place. But we believed in it, that’s why we’re in first place now. Yes, we lost 5 points, a difficult period. We didn’t deserve to lose today, but that’s football. It’s not possible to run every time; there is a better team on which a lot of money is spent. Money matters a lot in football. If we look at how much we spent in June, and where we are now, and where other teams are, everything becomes obvious,” Ivic was quoted as saying by the Match TV website.
CSKA head coach Vladimir Fedotov noted that his team had the advantage during the game.
— We dominated, pressed well and had chances from there. We must pay tribute to their goalkeeper, who helped out his team in several moments, as did our Igor, who also played masterfully and left his goal intact.
When we took the lead, we began to act more compactly, in the middle block. But the opponent pushed us a little into the penalty area, and we didn’t finish those episodes a little when we needed to bring quick attacks to their logical conclusion,” Fedotov said.
CSKA scored 21 points and ranks fifth in the RPL WORLD table; Krasnodar (28) suffered its first defeat of the RPL season, but remained in the lead.
