Ural head coach Viktor Gancharenko explained why Argentina and Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi deserved his next Golden Ball.
On Monday, 36-year-old Messi received the eighth Ballon d’Or of his career, the award ceremony took place in Paris at the Chatelet theater. David Beckham came out to announce the winner.
— As long as Messi is in the ranks, I am always for Messi. By the end of his career, he had won everything. I don’t remember a player who had such an impact on the team. He improves every year in passing, dribbling, everything. Leo is number one.
Erling Haaland is a machine, but a dependent forward. “Messi organizes everything himself, decides the outcomes of matches, distributes goals,” Gancharenko told the Championship.
Messi has previously won the Ballon d’Or in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2021. The Argentine’s closest rival in terms of the most prestigious individual awards in football is the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who has five such trophies.
Together with the Argentina national team, Messi won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
