In the 16th minute the first goal of the match was scored by the Bayern striker Thomas Müller. In extra time in the first half, the Saarbrücken midfielder Patrick Sontheimer equalized the score. In extra time of the second half, the midfielder Marcel Gaus brought victory to Saarbrücken.
Saarbrücken will next play Sandhausen in the Third League, while Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
