“We are confident that we are showing a championship game” – Krasnodar defender Volkov
Krasnodar defender Sergei Volkov believes that the team is showing a championship game and can defend first place in the RPL WORLD table.
Vladimir Ivich’s team leads the Russian football championship after 13 rounds, gaining 28 points. Zenit is second with 26 points.
— If we talk about the RPL, Zenit has almost caught up with your team, there are only two points left. Do you feel nervous about this?
– There is no nervousness. We also prepare for matches. Now we have to play with “Wings of the Soviets”, and then we will prepare for a face-to-face meeting with the St. Petersburg team. We discussed with the head coach that this stage is the most important for us, so that our task becomes a reality, and we feel more comfortable playing after the pause, we need to win.
— Two points isn’t too little a start from Zenit, which somehow quickly caught up with you?
— Before that, Zenit lost, lost points. Anything can happen in football. We also cannot win every match.
— Do you have the feeling that your team is going to decline, considering that before the defeat from CSKA you barely won against Rostov and then played a draw with Baltika?
— I wouldn’t say that there is any decline, it’s just that at some points there is a lack of luck. We work the same way as before. All teams have failures. Before that, we had not lost in eighteen matches, but now it has happened. It’s OK. If we are meant to win a championship, we will win it.
— Can we say that Krasnodar has a championship squad?
– Certainly. Before CSKA we had a long streak without defeat. We are confident that we are showing a championship game.
— So you don’t feel like you’re jumping in over your head?
– No. We trained a lot, worked on physics, and it brings results,” Euro-Futbol.Ru quotes Volkov as saying.
