“Talent alone is not enough.” Alexander Samedov gave advice to young football players
Former Russian national team midfielder Alexander Samedov gave advice to young football players.
This week, Samedov trained with the winning teams of the School Football League super final at the national team’s camp in Novogorsk as part of the RFU “Football at School” project. The children had the opportunity not only to train with such stars of the past as Samedov, Andrei Arshavin and Sergei Ovchinnikov, but also to go to the Moscow Spartak museum with Arshavin, as well as take pictures with their idols and get autographs.
— You conducted a training session with children at the national team’s base in Novogorsk. Tell me, how does it feel?
– Cool, I really liked it. The guys are active and like to take the initiative. I hope everything goes well for them.
— Did anyone stand out among them?
— It’s so hard to say, we need to spend more time with them, practice.
— What advice can you give to young people?
— The main thing is hard work. Talent alone is not enough, you have to work. Everything will depend on them, on their desire.
— In your time, was it harder to reach the stars, to see famous players live?
– Certainly. Times were different then, there were fewer events with stars. I am all for stories like this, because I see how happy the children are and how interested they are in it. It’s a really cool feeling,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Samedov as saying.
