Former Barcelona footballer Isaac Cuenca said that he was forced to retire due to six operations on his knee.
— I had six operations on my knee, all the same. I tried to recover optimally to return to the field, but the sixth operation was very difficult, I suffered a lot and said enough was enough.
The most important thing football taught me is that not everything happens the way you want. If you think you are very good, there is someone else who is better. It may also happen that you get injured and no one will need you. I didn’t expect this, but look at me now – I dropped out at the age of 30.
Of course I miss football, but the physical pain was so great that I decided enough was enough. “I wanted to live a normal life,” Marca quotes 32-year-old Cuenca as saying, citing RAC1.
At the age of 20, Cuenca made his debut for Barcelona, which was then coached by Pep Guardiola. With the Catalan club, he won the Copa del Rey and the Club World Cup. In October of this year, it became known that the player was ending his sports career, the last years of which he spent in Japan.
