FIFA could impose sanctions on the Brazilian national team following a brawl between fans

FIFA will conduct an investigation into the brawl between fans before the match between the national teams of Brazil and Argentina at the Maracanã stadium.

According to the disciplinary code of the International Football Federation, the Brazilian Football Confederation has full responsibility for ensuring the safety of the match as the host country.

Sanctions can include fines, playing one or more matches without spectators (or with a limited number of people), banning matches from a particular stadium, playing on a neutral pitch, deducting points or even suspending the competition.

There is no deadline to announce a decision on this match.
