Former Zenit forward Pavel Pogrebnyak commented on the decision of ex-CSKA midfielder Alan Dzagoev to end his career, noting that the footballer left a bright mark on Russian football.
On Tuesday, the Greek Lamia announced the termination of the employment contract by mutual agreement with Dzagoev, who decided to end his career.
— Alan had a wonderful career. I immediately remember his goals at Old Trafford against Manchester United at the 2012 European Championship. There were many bright moments. I think Dzagoev would play in Europe. That generation was great, we tried our hand at the leading leagues. But in general, it’s a sin for Alan to complain, since he left a bright mark on our football,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Pogrebnyak as saying.
Dzagoev, as part of CSKA, became a three-time Russian champion, winning the country’s Cup and Super Cup four times each. The footballer played 59 matches for the Russian national team and scored nine goals.
