Cuban national team goalkeeper Ismel Morgado admitted that midfielder Denis Cheryshev is his favorite player in the Russian national team.
On Monday, the Russian national team defeated Cuba in a friendly match in Volgograd with a score of 8:0.
— By and large, we met the Russian team when we were preparing for the match. I didn’t know much about this team before. I only watched during the World Championships in Russia.
Cheryshev is my favorite player in the national team; he used to play for Real Madrid. I was surprised that he wasn’t playing, I really wanted to see him. He has a great pass, and I also remember his beautiful goal at the World Cup. He is a disciplined, tactical footballer,” Morgado told Metaratings.ru.
Cheryshev played 33 matches for the Russian national team, scored 12 goals and gave five assists. He played his last game for the national team in September 2021.
